TAGUIG, Philippines – running for three years, the Great British Festival has, without a doubt, reflected the strong relationship the United Kingdom has with the Philippines.
Amongst the British culture, products, ideas and experiences that were spread throughout the Bonifacio High Street, Kenwood Philippines together with Southville International School affiliated with Foreign Universities (SISFU), which delivers Australian and UK curriculum in the Philippines, as well as InterEd all took part in the festival.
February 24 – Chef Ryan Pido, assisted by Louie Serate (a student), performed food preparation demos with the Kenwood kitchen machines. To complement the theme British Markets, students, Yun Su Seo and Emily Jun served hummus and artichoke dips, and chips to passersby.
On the same day, the British Ambassador to the Philippines, Asif Ahmad, dropped by the InterEd booth.
February 25 – The day’s crowd went excited over the spaghetti Chef Ryan and Louie prepared. Students – Hannah Ortiz, Natalie Lang and Chris Borja happily served the mutually happy Kenwood booth visitors.
February 26 – For their final day at the festival, the SISFU team prepared a fun-filled activity that involved the crowd's participation. Chef Ryan, along with Hannah, Natalie, Chris, Yun Su and Emily drew a big crowd to the Kenwood Booth as they frosted cupcakes with kids, adults and seniors.
The aforementioned students are taking up BBM in Hospitality Management at SISFU. All their courses are developed and supervised by the International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) in Adelaide, Australia. ICHM and SISFU's lecturers are equipped with local and international hotel school industry experience or management knowledge. They provide the students with hands-on training while intertwining theory and practical applications. We also ensure that work placements both locally and internationally are available to the students. Eventually, students are awarded qualifications by ICHM, so truly an international qualification.
