ELC Winter Camp and Immersion Programme Graduation
SISFU’s first PH-Korean ELC Winter Camp & Immersion Programme concluded with a special recognition ceremony at Bistro Lima on January 27, 2023! The event host, Teacher Zheela Montecillo, was filled with zeal as the familiar faces of her students greeted her with enthusiasm. This excitement was shared by our ELC Programme Head, Ms. Aileen Fulgencio, when she gave her opening speech. She noted that this was a great feat because the ELC Programme had to be put on hold for two years due to COVID. With a brilliant batch of Korean students to boot, there was much anticipation for the success of their immersion here in the Philippines.
This celebration took an even more heartwarming turn when SISFU presented awards to the eight students who participated in this programme. Kim Jun Woo was awarded the Math Master Award because of his effort in all their math-related activities, while Hong Yubin was presented with The Kindness Counts Award for her consistency in spreading love, kindness, and inspiration in the classroom. Lee Myoung Jin was given the Most Enthusiastic Learner Award as he was always highly motivated and participative, just as Jeong Ye Ju was recognized with the Excellent Effort Award for her relentless effort in exceeding expectations in both her behaviour and studies.
Other special awards included the Sunshiney Award given to Lee Min Jung for her cheerfulness, the Keynote Speaker Award for Jeong Jin Hwan due to his impressive vocabulary, the Future Star Award presented to Noh Yul for her commitment to herself and others, and the Creative Thinker Award was given to Kim Bun Hong for his curiosity.
To show their gratitude, the ELC students prepared a performance for the coordinators, teachers, staff, and student mentors. Myoung Jin graced the guests with her soothing voice as she sang her rendition of “Never Not” by Lauv and Ye Ju definitely got the crowd going as she danced to Blackpink’s “Shut Down”.
The staff who made this programme possible did not hesitate in sharing their experiences and words of wisdom. Teacher Zheela was evidently proud of her students as they finished the classes with flying colours. Crucial partners in coordinating the Programme along with Mr. John Kim, Hangkuk University of Foreign Affairs (HUFS) Philippines General Manager, were thankful to both the students and staff for creating a meaningful time of learning and development.
In his speech, Director Eric Han of HUFS commended SISFU for being undeniably the best partner he’s had for this programme since he started in 2013. This was followed by Ms. Aileen Fulgencio’s and Ms. Cristina Aguilar-Borja’s attempts in sharing Korean words as they talked about their work in planning this year’s ELC Winter Camp and Immersion.
Before the event ended, the students went around the campus so that they can take photos and bond with their student mentors for the last time.
We wish everyone all the best in their journey back to Korea and we hope for their continuous commitment to learning!
