From Hospitality and Beyond: How a SISFU degree in hospitality can land you a career beyond hotels

Most of us remember that all too familiar feeling of the uncertainty that comes after graduation. We wait for that call that may or may not come from that dream employer and hope for the best outcome.

This was also the case for SISFU alumna, Kay Angeles, who graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management. Like most hospitality graduates, she envisioned employment in a hotel nearby but since graduation came at an inopportune time during the pandemic, job openings, especially in hospitality, came in few and far between. She found herself waiting for a job in hotels and soon realized that it was more difficult than she initially thought because most of the hotels had either closed or were on limited operations.

It was at this point that she decided to broaden her horizons and expand her search beyond hotels. Not long after, she found an opportunity through the Filinvest Group where she started her career as a Special Projects Assistant. She holds a critical position in the Purchasing division as she is responsible for a few F&B outlets in BGC and neighboring areas.

Equipped with vigor, hard work, and a widely-relevant degree in Hospitality Management from SISFU, our programme graduates, like Kay Angeles, may find themselves in gainful careers in hospitality and other industries they wish to pursue.
