General Assembly

General Assembly

On Friday, October 21, 2022, HMCA hosted their first General Assembly: The Start of Our HM Adventure. The event highlighted what HMCA is all about and the events that their members should be looking forward to!

The event kicked off with a short introduction from HMCA’s President, Patrisha Buck, to welcome their own members, advisers, and other participants. This was then followed by a brief explanation of what HMCA is about—its purpose and what makes them unique as an organization.

With Pineapple being the organization’s logo, it is no wonder that some members are curious about what it symbolizes. So, Julia Marcial, HMCA’s secretary, shared a brief history of why the Pineapple represents Honor, Warm, Welcoming, and Hospitality. Afterwards, they introduced the team and their positions—Patrisha Buck as President Angelina Jolie as Vice President; Julia Marcial as Secretary Sophia San Jose as Treasurer and Ethan Paris as Public Relations Officer. Then, they introduced their Adviser Dr Nancy de Guia, and Program Adviser, Ms Jen Bebing.!”

A fun and insightful Kahoot game was done for the Icebreaker, which was filled with questions related to Hospitality Management! After this, the officers walked down the memory lane by sharing the events they held last Academic Year, including their General Assemblies, Hospitality Career Talk, Trivia Fridays, Food Features, Discord Movie, plus their achievement: Most Active Organization.

To put more spirit to the members and the organization, the HMCA officers presented their year plan with thrilling and beneficial events: Hospitality and Business Career Talk, General Assemblies, Food Features, and other short activities such as 4 Pics 1 Word and Trivia Fridays. After this, important reminders regarding their roles for a SISFU-wide event were announced before having their 10-minute break. During this, the attendees and officers were able to sit together, share laughs, and acquaint themselves more with one another.

HMCA hosted a short raffle with exciting prizes before having their photo opportunity as an organization. Afterwards, Dr Nancy de Guia, who briefly dropped by to witness the event, was welcomed to the stage to formally close the activity with a few words. She congratulated all members, officers, and Patrisha Buck for her commitment, contributions, and the legacy she built, which will be passed on to the next officers to be at par with or even surpass.

Congratulations to HMCA for their first successful General Assembly for AY 2022-2023! We hope the attendees were able to learn more about the organization, and if you missed today’s event, make sure to join their 2nd General Assembly and Hospitality and Business Career Talk, with the date to be confirmed on SISFU’s HMCA or @hmca_sisfu on Instagram.
