From stepping out of her comfort zone to taking flight in the corporate world, Amanda Ang’s journey is one that captures the true spirit of a SISFU learner—resilient, passionate, and globally ready.
A graduate of the Diploma in Data Analytics at SISFU, Amanda is now completing her final-year top-up degree in Business Computing and Information Systems at the University of Central Lancashire. Today, she’s turning data into meaningful insights as a Data Analyst Intern at Cebu Pacific Air—a testament to how far dedication and the right learning environment can take you.
From Classroom to Career
Amanda credits SISFU’s Pearson BTEC programme for equipping her with the technical and analytical foundation that helped her succeed in the field of data analytics. Through SISFU’s hands-on approach and real-world projects, she learned how to apply data to solve complex problems and make strategic decisions—skills that have become essential in her internship.
“Working in a company is really different from doing work in school,” Amanda shared. “Things move at a faster pace, and a lot of unexpected things happen compared to the structured nature of your workload in school. Being receptive, flexible, and proactive helped me adjust. It’s important to communicate and stay open-minded because there’s always a learning curve—but eventually, you’ll get used to the work dynamics.”
Her internship at Cebu Pacific has become an extension of what she learned at SISFU—bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world experience.
Growing Through Leadership
Before stepping into the corporate world, Amanda also made her mark within SISFU as a Student Council President. Her two-year leadership journey was filled with both challenges and triumphs that shaped her into the person she is today.
“There were moments of doubt and exhaustion,” she recalled. “I had never been a president of anything before, and I was constantly learning along the way. But I kept showing up because I didn’t want to let my team and community down. I realized that leadership isn’t about always having the answers—it’s about growing through every challenge.”
Her time as a student leader taught her the importance of collaboration, communication, and resilience—qualities that continue to guide her in her professional life. “Looking back, I’m proud of how much I’ve grown. I learned to trust myself, speak up, and believe that even when success isn’t guaranteed, the journey itself is always worth it.”
The SISFU Edge
Amanda’s story reflects the essence of SISFU’s 5Cs—Character, Competence, Commitment to Achieve, Creativity, and Collaboration. It shows how SISFU empowers students not just to excel academically, but to develop as leaders ready for global opportunities.
From tackling data challenges to inspiring others through leadership, Amanda continues to embody what it means to be a SISFU graduate—skilled, confident, and ready to take on the world.
Her journey reminds every student that success begins with a single brave step outside one’s comfort zone—and that with SISFU, the sky is truly the limit.
