When Yehlen Milka chose to pursue an MBA, she was already working in a demanding role in Saudi Arabia’s railway sector. As a Train Staff Manager and later a Rail Safety Officer, her work required long hours, constant focus, and the responsibility of leading people in a high-pressure environment.
Balancing full-time work with postgraduate study was challenging, but the experience strengthened Yehlen’s discipline, resilience, and time-management skills. More importantly, it changed how she approached leadership. She moved from focusing solely on daily tasks to thinking more strategically—considering systems, processes, and the people behind them.
What she learned quickly translated into real workplace impact. Yehlen applied her knowledge of emotional intelligence, organizational behavior, and process improvement to support smoother staff coordination and stronger emergency response planning, helping uphold high standards of safety and performance.
Through her studies, she also gained a deeper understanding of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the role leaders play in developing talent and driving long-term change. This perspective helped her grow from a supervisor into a confident people manager, improving communication, team performance, and staff engagement.
Yehlen’s journey shows that growth doesn’t require stepping away from a career. With commitment and courage, it’s possible to keep learning, keep leading, and build a stronger future—one step at a time.
