Flying in from Australia, four Hospitality Management students came to join their graduation march with Southville International School Affiliated with Foreign Universities (SISFU) on 19 August 2017.
After the SISFU graduation ceremony, Julie Alfaro, Jham Heruela, and Maryam Karay flew back to Australia to attend their graduation ceremony at the International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) next week in Adelaide. They all finished with double degrees: the ICHM Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) and Bachelor of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association).
Prior to leaving for Australia, the students completed two academic years with SISFU. They accomplished the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Hospitality Management and the first two years of academic studies for the ICHM Bachelor of Business. They then completed 500 hours of local work experience, whilst they were processing their papers to transfer to ICHM, Australia with full credits.
The programme includes a series of work and study terms:
- In June 2015, they went to Australia. ICHM initially placed them in industry and worked with pay for the first six months. They were taken in by the following hotel and resorts: Park Hyatt in Melbourne (Alfaro), RACV City Club in Melbourne (Heruela), and Voyages Ayers Rock Resort – Sails in the Desert Hotel (Karay)
- This was followed by 6 months on-campus at ICHM to complete academic requirements for Bachelor of Business.
- Next, ICHM placed them for a second industry experience for a further six months. They were taken in by the following hotel and resorts: Hilton Cairns (Alfaro), Pullman Cairns International (Heruela), and The Treasury Hotel & Casino in Brisbane (Karay)
- They then returned to the ICHM campus for the final six months to complete the Bachelor of International Hotel Management.
On their return to Australia, they processed their two-year post-graduate work visa that will allow them to continue working in Australia for a further two years.
Apart from the three aforementioned students, Richard Kang was also present at the SISFU graduation ceremony. He came from South Korea to receive his HND. In 2016, he graduated with the Bachelor of Business at ICHM, Adelaide, Australia after completing his initial two years of academic studies with SISFU and obtaining work experience in both Australia and South Korea.
SISFU congratulates these graduates on their achievements and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
