RAC SISFU Goes to Vigan, Wins Accolades at PROCON 2020

By: Lorenzo Inciong and Tram Panaligan

The Rotaract Club of SISFU took part in the Pilipinas Rotaract Convention (PROCON) 2020 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur on February 21-23, 2020. The student delegates from the organisation proudly represented the school, as well as the Rotaract District. This organization celebrates its 9th PROCON with the theme: Distrito 3830: Sama-Sama, Nagkaka-isa (District 3830: Together and Unified!).

Selected delegates took part in the PROCON Pageant, which aimed to raise funds for the advocacy of the organisation to end Poliomyelitis. Winners of the pageant will be representing the Philippines as delegates in the upcoming APRCC or the Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference, a worldwide conference of the Rotary Club, in Malaysia.

The student delegates not only actively participated but came back with some remarkable achievements. Rotaractor Josef Hojas took home the bacon and won Mr. PROCON 2020. Along with this major prize, he was awarded Most Articulate (Male) and Best in Rotaract Speech (Male) adding yet another prestigious title win under the belt of the reigning Mr. SGEN.

His partner, IPP Aiko Iwata, was awarded the End Polio Ambassadress. An equally important award because the Rotary has been working hard to raise awareness and prevention of Polio. The coronation was a good reminder that Polio is still affecting children all over the world and that Rotary will not stop until the disease is completely eradicated. The Immediate Past President will be one of the people continually pursuing the project to ensure that the mission will be accomplished.

Apart from this, the Rotaractors of RAC SISFU enjoyed the opportunity to have a slice of Spain, basking themselves in the beauty of the famous World Heritage Site and immersing themselves by visiting the famous Calle Crisologo, Baluarte Zoo, and Vigan Plaza Hotel.

Rotary continues to raise the bar in communities across the world bringing tangible improvements to countless lives. The members of SISFU’s Rotary Club, part of District 3830, are committed to serve their communities, helping those in need, and making a difference, one step at a time.
