SHS Information and Communications Technology

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is a specialized field of study that concentrates on the use of digital technology for information processing, storage, transmission, and management. In  Senior high schools, ICT is usually offered as a track or strand of study where students can study a variety of subjects associated with digital technology.

Through these subjects, senior high school students can develop essential ICT skills that will prepare them for a wide range of careers in the digital technology industry, as well as other fields that rely heavily on digital technology.

College courses pathways for ICT graduates

  • Computer Science - This degree focuses on programming languages, algorithms, data structures, software engineering, and computer architecture.
  • Information Technology - This degree covers a broad range of topics such as programming, database management, networking, cybersecurity, and web development.
  • Information Systems - This degree focuses on the design, development, and management of information systems for organizations, including topics such as project management, data analytics, and enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Computer Engineering - This degree combines aspects of computer science and electrical engineering, and focuses on hardware design, computer architecture, and embedded systems.
  • Cybersecurity - This degree focuses on the prevention and protection against cyber-attacks, and covers topics such as network security, ethical hacking, and incident response.
  • Data Science - This degree focuses on the use of data to solve problems and inform decision-making, including topics such as statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Digital Media - This degree focuses on the production and management of digital media, including topics such as graphic design, video production, and interactive media.
