The entire SISFU community is filled with immense pride as we celebrate the remarkable achievement of our UK FLEX Business student Bea Quiambao. Bea recently secured a phenomenal victory at the Ironman Triathlon in Subic Bay. Her dedication to both her academic pursuits and her athletic career is truly inspiring to all of us.

A Brilliant Race Execution

Bea executed her Subic race perfectly. At first, dark skies threatened the event and soon poured heavy rain. Despite this, Bea pushed through the rough weather. She finished the tough course in just 5 hours, 37 minutes, and 14 seconds. As a result, she successfully beat fierce rivals. Specifically, the young athlete edged out Japan’s Mitsuki Tanaka-Tan and fellow Filipina Anne Nuñez. Bea shared that the race left her exhausted and she was not in her best condition at the time. Despite that, her deep strength carried her forward. Ultimately, the champion cruised through the course unchallenged to win the gold.

A Flawless Hat-Trick Season

This amazing win completes a flawless hat-trick for Bea. Earlier this year, she swept titles at the 70.3 triathlon in Davao City. Following that, the sports star claimed a big win at the 5150 Camiguin. Clearly, she rules the sport in any weather. This proves her status as the top star of Philippine racing. Meanwhile, we also warmly praise August Benedicto. The fast racer gave a grand effort to win the men’s side of this tough event.

Balancing School and Sports

Watching our students shine on big stages brings us immense joy. Indeed, we designed the UK FLEX programme for exactly this reason. Exceptional people like Bea need an adaptable school path. After all, training for an Ironman triathlon demands countless hours. Athletes must swim, bike, and run daily. Fortunately, the flexibility of our business degree helps student-athletes.
